Music, arts for all tastes under one big Bumbershoot

It must be the end of the summer because Bumbershoot, the annual Seattle music and arts festival, is finally here.

The gates open Saturday morning and there's a busy schedule on 15 stages through Monday.

The 40th anniversary celebration features musical performances by Bob Dylan, Neko Case, The Decemberists, Weezer, Hole, Mary J. Blige, plus many, many more.

Ozomatli plays a blend of hip hop, jazz, reggae and pop. They're on the Fisher Green Stage on Saturday.

Billy Bragg, long known for his British activist folk rock, plays the Starbucks stage on Sunday, and Monday brings another British group, this one with ska rhythms, The English Beat -- among the dozens of other acts.

But Bumbershoot is much, much more than musical acts. Comedy, film, theater, spoken word, performance art and spectacle also are featured.

What's spectacle?

A hire-wire motorcycle act, a pedal-powered carnival act, bicycle rodeo and glass blowing, just to kick things off.

Bring a sweater, sunblock and a raincoat, because Labor Day weekend weather can deliver just about anything.

Tickets start at $22 and go up from there. Passes are sold at the gate all weekend long.

For a complete lineup and more information, check out www.bumbershoot.org.
