WWII focus of Vintage Aircraft Weekend
While it may be especially exciting for airplane aficionados or military history buffs, the Vintage Aircraft Weekend is intended to be fun for all ages.
Organizers say the event will feature dozens of aircraft, mostly from the World War II era.
It will include WWII re-enactments with personnel in period uniforms, plus old jeeps and tanks; B-25 tours; flybys at various times, weather permitting; and guest speakers.
Young eventgoers can build their own "flying objects" or hovercrafts, or sit in a plane and talk with experts about being pilots or astronauts.
All aircraft viewing will take place outside on a taxiway, while the presentations and other hands-on activities will be indoors.
Admission is $10 general, free for children, students through 12th grade, active military and veterans, and seniors age 65 and older.
A food festival also is also planned. Organizers say the vendors will be set up just outside the hangar.
Event hours are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Historic Flight Restoration Center at Paine Field, 10719 Bernie Webber Drive, Mukilteo.
