All lanes reopened after I-5 crash

Man injured in rollover accident near Highway 526

EVERETT — All northbound lanes of I-5 have been reopened following an injury rollover accident that happened around 11:40 a.m.

The backup as of 2:24 p.m. stretched more than seven miles, officials reported.

A 23-year-old Everett man partially was ejected from his Chevrolet Blazer, Washington State Patrol Trooper Mark Francis said. He was transported to a local hospital.

The accident occurred on northbound I-5 just north of the Highway 526 overpass.

Witnesses told troopers that the Blazer was merging onto I-5 from Everett Mall Way when a silver car made a lane change in front of him.

The Blazer's driver reportedly swerved and lost control, Francis said. His car rolled over and came to rest in a ditch upside down.

Two lanes of northbound traffic still were blocked at 1:20 p.m.
