Lincoln leaving Tuesday
EVERETT -- The USS Abraham Lincoln, USS Momsen and USS Shoup are set to leave port on Tuesday following the Labor Day weekend.
The departure date was confirmed by the Navy on Thursday.
The Naval Station Everett crews are scheduled for a routine deployment in the western Pacific Ocean and Persian Gulf area.
This mission of the Lincoln Strike Group is focused on maritime security operations and security cooperation efforts, which help establish conditions for regional stability, Navy officials said.
"There are 5,000 men and women on this ship who are excited, prepared and determined to make a difference in the world. We're ready," said Capt. John D. Alexander, commanding officer of the Lincoln, in a press release.
