Born to be riled

Easy-does-it rider: An estimated 200,000 bikers returned to Sturgis, S.D., in August for the rally's 70th year. But things have changed as bikers have aged. One rider, a veteran of 35 rallies, noted: "Today, folks just trailer them bikes in, and that ain't fair. In the old days, everybody rode in."

What's worse, a fair number had traded in their Harleys for three-wheeled electric scooters.

Now, that's a tax shelter: Actor Paul Hogan, star of the "Crocodile Dundee" movies, can now return to the United States after he met with Australian tax officials over a disputed multimillion-dollar tax bill. Australia claims Hogan concealed his movie earnings in offshore bank accounts.

Hogan denied the allegations and said everything he earned from "Crocodile Dundee" he kept in an empty can of Foster's Lager.

Pain-free sashimi: A Sacramento restaurant has agreed to take live prawns off its menu following a protest by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, who said serving the "dancing shrimp" by squeezing lemon juice on the crustaceans was cruel.

Asked to comment, a spokesprawn said, "Lemon juice, barbecue or whale's stomach, really it's all the same to us."
