Snohomish County fairgrounds manager resigns

Snohomish County's fairgrounds manager for the past nine seasons is leaving for a new job with the Northwest Montana Fair in Kalispell, Mont.

The announcement came Tuesday, a day after the 2010 Evergreen State Fair in Monroe ended.

Mark Campbell is scheduled to start Oct. 15 at his new job as operation manager for the fairgrounds in Flathead County, Mont.

Campbell, 51, began working for Snohomish County in 2002. Before that, he had been a manager with the King County Fair in Enumclaw.

He is scheduled to remain in his Snohomish County job for two weeks, then take some vacation time before his departure.

Deputy Snohomish County Parks Director Hal Gausman is slated to take over Campbell's old duties as interim fairgrounds manager.
