GOP group slams Larsen in TV ad and he slams them back

Democratic Congressman Rick Larsen is the target of a new TV ad campaign financed by the conservative American Future Fund of Iowa.

The ad entitled "Fork in the Road" closes by asking voters to "Take the right path, vote against Rick Larsen."

Similar Fork in the Road ads are being run against Democratic candidates around the country, including Denny Heck in the 3rd Congressional District in southwest Washington.

Republican John Koster, Larsen's opponent in the 2nd Congressional District, is not mentioned in the 30-second spot now airing on cable and broadcast channels. (And you can watch it below.)

Larsen's campaign said the AFF bought $607,720 worth of time and plans to run commercials through Oct. 7.

Brooke Davis, Larsen's campaign manager, issued this statement in response to the ad:

“Shadowy, out-of-state special interests like the American Future Fund are not interested in Northwest Washington. They're interested in using anonymous political donations from multi-millionaires and billionaires to promote their own right-wing agenda – and candidates like John Koster that support it.

“Nothing could more clearly demonstrate the choice facing Washington voters than the contrast between Rick Larsen and the mysterious right-wing group backing his opponent.”

Here's the ad:
