Each year, the start of the holiday season has me thinking hard about meaningful and creative gifts for family and friends. I recently heard about a Seattle-based company that offers gift cards for charities.
The recipient can choose to spend the gift card on up to three charities from a list of more than 250 national and local organizations. You can get more details on the company’s website, www.tisbest.org.
The list includes several Western Washington nonprofits, including Kidzana Ministries, a faith-based organization in Mukilteo. You can choose to send your gift card by e-mail, print it out or mail it.
Speaking of giving to charities, there’s still time to be included in our Ways to Give list, which we publish each year to tell readers about local nonprofit organizations looking for volunteers and donations. Include the name of your organization, services you provide, hours, address and phone number, and what items, services or volunteer help you need. E-mail reporter Gale Fiege at gfiege@heraldnet.com by Monday. The list will be published Nov. 21.
