Thinking spring? Mariners exhibition game ticket sales begin Saturday

Can't wait until the home opener April 8 to see Justin Smoak, Brendan Ryan, Jack Wilson and a third baseman to be determined?

All those guys and many more -- including Ichiro Suzuki, Felix Hernandez, Miguel Olivo and Jack Cust -- will be at arm's length in late February and throughout March at the Mariners' spring training camp in Peoria, Ariz.

It's one of the really cool things about the baseball season, the opportunity to get up close and fairly personal with the big leaguers in a warm, relaxed setting. And this year, if some of the early prognostications are right, spring training may be the only cool thing about the Mariners.

Tickets to the Mariners' 17 games at the Peoria Sports Complex will go on sale at 8 a.m. Saturday. Prices range from $6 for the outfield lawn to $23 for infield box seats. Groups of 20 or more get a $1 discount per ticket, $2 off if it's a group of 100 or more, in the upper box, outfield, bleacher and lawn sections.

Tickets are available online at www.mariners.com/springtraining, by phone at 800-677-1227 or at the Peoria Sports Complex box office at 1610 N. 83rd Ave. in Peoria. Spring training season tickets are available at 623-773-8719.

The Mariners' first exhibition is Feb. 27 against the San Diego Padres in the annual charity game to benefit numerous charities in the Peoria area.
