Your new congresscritter

It's unanimous, Congressman Harvey: A bipartisan commission met for the first time Tuesday in Olympia, tasked with setting the boundaries for the state's new 10th congressional district.

Sticking with the bipartisan spirit, the four-member board quickly decided to make the unpopulated Hanford Nuclear Reservation the new 10th district and appointed a radioactive rabbit to Congress.

Tiger by the tail: Herald Columnist Julie Muhlstein weighs in on the controversy over Yale Law School professor and self-described “Tiger Mother” Amy Chua and her views on a strict and demanding Chinese style of parenting that pushes kids to succeed but offers little praise in recognition of achievement.

Kumbaya, my lord, Kumbaya: Republicans and Democrats demonstrated restraint and civility this week. And some even plan to sit together rather than in party-bound blocs during President Obama's upcoming State of the Union speech.

Even Rep. Joe Wilson, R-Bellow, who shouted, “You lie!” at Obama during a 2009 speech before Congress, says this year he'll tone it down by yelling “I wholeheartedly disagree with the facts as you present them. Sir.”
