'Next to Normal': Village's Pulitzer winner opens Tuesday
"Next to Normal": This Pulitzer-Prize winner, which was one of Village Theatre's original musicals, opens Tuesday at the 5th Avenue Theatre.
"Next to Normal" won the 2010 Pulitzer for drama after starting in Village Theatre's new works program under the title "Feeling Electric." Village Theatre is based in Issaquah but also presents its shows at Everett Performing Arts Center.
The musical was written by Brian Yorkey, Village Theatre's former associate artistic director. It's about a bipolar mother trying to cope with an illness that wreaks havoc on her family.
"Next to Normal" opens at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and runs at various times through March 13 at the 5th Avenue Theatre, 1308 Fifth Ave., Seattle.

"Number the Stars": This drama is set in 1943, during the German occupation of Denmark where the world of two young best friends, Annemarie and Ellen, changes when the Nazis begin relocating Jews.
Now Annemarie must do the most important thing she can for her friend: save her life by helping Ellen escape the country.
"Number the Stars" opens at 7 p.m. Feb. 25 at the Lincoln Theatre, 712 S First St., Mount Vernon. Additional shows are at 2 p.m. Feb. 26, 7 p.m. March 4 and 2 p.m. March 5.
