Prep boys soccer: Shorecrest 3, Snohomish 0

SNOHOMISH -- Shorecrest's Glenn Paden wasted no time placing himself among the Wesco's scoring leaders.

The senior forward picked up right where he left off last season, scoring the all three goals in the Scots' 3-0 season-opening nonconference win over Snohomish.

"Glenn showed us tonight why he was the leading scorer in the league last year," Shorecrest head coach Drew Thompson said. "If you give him an opportunity he's going to score."

That was made pretty clear Tuesday against Snohomish (0-1 overall) as he seemed to take advantage of every yard of space he was given by the Panthers' defense.

Of his three goals, which came in the 24th, 55th and 60th minutes, the second, which came on a throw-in from Joe Schober, was perhaps the most impressive, according to Thompson.

Paden received the pass from the sideline about 30 yards out, spun around his defender and deposited the shot in the upper left-hand corner of the goal. His other goals were assisted by Callum Wijelach and Axel Wickstrom.

Scots' (1-0) goalkeeper Sam Schober recorded the shutout.
