MILL CREEK — In cold and wet conditions Friday afternoon at Jackson High School, Mountlake Terrace (1-2 overall) got off to a hot start, scoring three runs in the first inning. But Jackson (1-0) came back, scoring all 11 of its runs in a three-inning span with a five runs in the third inning, three
runs in the fourth and three more runs in the fifth to post an 11-8 nonleague victory.
Jackson’s big third inning began with an Andrew Lambert single. Lambert later scored on a Connor Plaisance double. Then Kyle Olson hit a home run to tie the score at three. Later in the inning, Anthony Flatt smacked a two-run single.
Jackson’s Olson also had a double, finishing the game 2-for-3. Jackson head coach Kirk Nicholson said Olson is simply picking up where he left off last year with this solid hitting performance.
“He was an all-league kid last year, and he’s starting off with a good year this year,” said Nicholson.
Lambert went 3-for-3 and scored three runs for Jackson. Winning pitcher Robert Brencic (1-0) pitched 32/3 innings in the first varsity start of his career.
Terrace’s Alex Hatch had two RBI in the first inning.
Jackson finished the game with 13 hits. Terrace finished with five.
