Enjoy Yappy Hour at Marysville wine shop

  • ithinkstock.com

Here's a chance for you to party on behalf of -- or with -- your favorite pooch.

WineStyles in Marysville will host a Poochapalooza kickoff and wine-tasting event and "Yappy Hour" on Saturday.

Part of the proceeds from this casual social afternoon will support the annual outdoor dog event called Poochapalooza and also benefit Marysville's Strawberry Fields for Rover Off-Leash Park.

The wine tasting and Yappy Hour is from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at WineStyles, 6608 64th St. NE, Marysville.

The cost is $20 with $10 going to benefit the off-leash dog park. Your ticket buys you five wine tastings and one glass of Mutt Lynch Wine. Appetizers will also be served.

And if your pooch likes riding in vehicles -- and what dog doesn't? -- how about a ride in a limousine?

You can send your dog to Yappy Hour and arrive in fine furry fashion by booking a limousine ride for an extra $10.

Your dog gets a limo ride from a location near WineStyles, courtesy of Poochapalooza sponsor Canine Cozy Care Resort.

After pooches arrive they can have publicity photos taken and be escorted to Yappy Hour, where they will be served caviar- and wine bottle-shaped treats courtesy of Dining Dog Cafe and Bakery, along with personalized trophies. Space is limited for the limo and Yappy Hour. RSVP at 360-651-0633 or email Leslie Buell at labuell@frontier.com.

For tickets you can also check out the Poochapalooza website at www.poochapalooza.org or make checks payable to the Marysville Dog Owners Group, or M-DOG, and send to: M-DOG, PMB 245, 1509 Sixth St., Marysville, WA, 98270.

The wine tasting and Yappy Hour is the kickoff to M-DOG's fifth annual Poochapalooza set for July 9 at the new Strawberry Fields for Rover Off-Leash Park, 6100 152nd St. NE, Marysville. Admission is free though suggested donation is $5 to support M-DOG and Strawberry Fields.
