EDMONDS — The community gathered Thursday night to honor young people from around Snohomish County as part of the Youth Challenge Awards.
The program recognizes middle- and high-schoolers who make significant contributions in several categories. Snohomish County deputy prosecutor Adam Cornell was Thursday night’s keynote speaker. He shared his experience growing up in foster care and the people who made a difference in his life.
Here’s a list of the $200 cash award recipients:

Courage: Francisco Colchado, Mariner High
Inspiration: Dustin Brent, Edmonds Heights
Community Service: Taylor Brooks, Mountlake Terrace High
Environmental Service: Caroline Rensel, Arlington High
Leadership: Shawn Semana, Mountlake Terrace High
Group: Horizon SB, a skateboard team from the Snohomish Boys & Girls Club
