Students in the Everett Community College welding department are participating in a welding rodeo on Friday at Bellingham Technical College in Bellingham.
Contestants see who has the best welding team. This is the first time Everett Community College has compet
ed in the rodeo.

SightConnection in Lynnwood: SightConnection — formerly Community Services for the Blind and Partially Sighted — offers “Insight: A Low-Vision Expo” Saturday in Lynnwood.
It’s planned for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lynnwood Convention Center at 3711 196th St. SW in Lynnwood.
Planned is a vendor fair and learning lab. The keynote speaker is Dr. Russell Van Gelder, director of the University of Washington Medicine Eye Institute, presenting “Forward With Hope: Research in Regenerative Medicine in the Eye.”
There is a $20 suggested donation.

Retreat opens Saturday: Healing Hearts in Hope Veterans Retreat Center offers a grand opening from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at 28902 Mountain Loop Highway in Granite Falls.
Healing Hearts in Hope Veteran Retreat Center is the brainchild of Teresa “Flying Eagle” Baird, who donated the land. It includes a sweat lodge and hosts Talking Circles.
The vision for the center is to heal veterans, protect the land and thank service members for their sacrifices.
