Front Porch: House checks

House checks

Lynnwood police are offering free vacation house checks this summer. To sign up, visit the clerk's office at the police station at 19321 44th Ave. W. in Lynnwood.

The station is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

People who want house checks will need to fill out a short information sheet, police spokeswoman Shannon Sessions said. Houses need to be within the Lynnwood city limits. Police volunteers check on the houses, and they call police if they find anything suspicious.

For more information, call 425-670-5635.

The sale is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cars and trucks cost $25 to register. Email Maryke Burgess at mburgess@marysvillewa.gov to get an application.

New plan for fire district: Snohomish County Fire District 8 in Lake Stevens is working on a new strategic plan due out later this year.

The district is working with a strategic planning consultant with Waldron & Company, a Seattle-based consulting firm.

The strategic plan is expected to cost about $10,000. The district hopes to complete the plan by the end of August.
