Give: Food drive at Everett library
The Everett Public Library is holding a food drive through July 8 to benefit the Everett food bank.
"We heard from the local Volunteers of America office that food bank supplies run low during the summer, and we wanted to help," said Kate Mossman, the library's assistant director.
One of the reasons food banks run low in the summer is the absence of school lunch programs, she said. Librarians decided to tie in the food drive with the summer reading program. Kids who bring donations will get a commemorative button for their effort.
Here's what the food bank needs: canned meats, canned and boxed meals, such as soups or macaroni and cheese, peanut butter, canned or dried beans and peas, pasta, rice, cereal, canned fruit, fruit juices and baby food.
The food bank can't use rusty or unlabeled cans, perishable and homemade food, noncommercial packaged food, alcoholic beverages, mixes, soda, open or used items.
The Everett Public Library branches are at 2702 Hoyt Ave. and 9512 Evergreen Way.

Volunteer: Help out at animal shelter
The NOAH animal adoptions center and clinic is looking for receptionists, vet clinic assistants and other volunteers.
Receptionist responsibilities include managing a four-line phone system, greeting visitors, supporting staff and scheduling spay and neuter appointments. Knowledge of the organization is preferred. Relevant experience is preferred for vet clinic volunteers. Other volunteer opportunities also are available,

Run: Race to support charities
There is still time to register for Mill Creek's annual Run of the Mill 5K race and walk.
The run is set for July 9 at Mill Creek Town Center, 15311 Main St. Packet pick-up begins at 7:30 a.m., the race starts at 9:30 a.m. near the University Bookstore.
Register online at http://mcrunofthemill.com. Today is the last day to register for $20. A $20 late fee applies starting July 1. Online registration closes at midnight July 4, no day-of-race registration allowed.
Run of the Mill proceeds benefit local charities, including the Linda Baltzell Cancer Patient Assistance Fund, the Jackson High track programs and the Washington Cross Country Coaches Scholarship Fund.

Clothes for Kids, a Lynnwood-based charity providing free clothing to children in Snohomish County, is expanding and looking for volunteers to serve on several committees.
The following positions are open:
•Fundraising and Events Committee to coordinate fundraising programs and events held throughout the year. Clothes for Kids relies heavily on donations.
Finance Committee to ensure accurate financial reporting and looks for ways to improve.
Community Outreach committee to spread the word about the organization to the community and coordinates with other nonprofits to develop partnerships.
