Your guide to having a blast on the 4th

No matter where you are in Snohomish County and beyond, you'll be able to celebrate the Fourth of July in star-spangled fashion, with no lack of parades, fireworks displays, ice cream socials and patriotic music.

But don't expect any activity at Naval Station Everett. The Colors of Freedom Fest has been canceled this year for security reasons. The Colors of Freedom Fest was published in the Herald's Splash section in May but the Navy canceled the event after Splash was published.

Here's a list of holiday Fourth of July events:

Snohomish and Island counties

Frontier Days Fourth of July, Arlington: Events are on July 4 at Haller Park, 1100 West Ave., unless otherwise noted; 360-403-3448; www.arlingtonwa.gov.

7 to 11 a.m. pancake breakfast, $5 per plate.

8 a.m. registration, 10:00 a.m. start for Pedal, Paddle, Puff Triathalon.

8:30 and 10 a.m. silent auctions, noon live auction.

1 to 3 p.m., Mini-marshmallow Madness at Legion Park.

3 p.m. concert in Legion Park gazebo, 114 N. Olympic Ave.

4:30 p.m. kid parade, registration at 3:30 p.m. at PUD, 210 Division St.

5 p.m. grand parade, Olympic Avenue.

7:30 p.m. Stilly Duck Dash.

9 p.m. fireworks, seating at Boys & Girls Club, 18513 59th Ave. NE.

Parades, Bothell: Lineup area for children and grand parades is at 104th Avenue and Main Street on July 4.

Children's parade for ages up to 12 starts at 11:15 a.m. Participants bring decorated wagons, strollers or bicycles. Parents accompany children or arrange to meet them at the end.

Grand parade starts noon; free to participate; routes proceed west on Main Street and then north on Bothell-Everett Highway to NE 188th Street;

Pancake breakfast, Bothell: 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at city of Bothell Downtown Firehouse, 10726 Beardslee Blvd.; 425-486-7430; www.ci.bothell.wa.us.

Patriot Dance, Bothell: Canceled this year because of construction around the Park at Bothell Landing.

Terry's Corner Fourth of July, Camano Island: 3 p.m. July 4, Terry's Corner, at Sunrise Boulevard and Highway 532 (East Camano Drive); live music, recognition of Pearl Harbor survivors; children's play area; free; 360-941-6314.

Hometown parade, Darrington: July 4; noon lineup at the community center for 1 p.m. start. Proceed down Darrington Street toward Mountain Loop Highway and end at Old School Park on Alvord Street. Family activities and live entertainment to follow; free; 360-436-1131.

An Edmonds Kind of Fourth: All events on July 4; free; www.edmondswa.com.

Fun Run: 10 a.m.; 425-776-6711.

Children's parade: 11:30 a.m. at Fifth Avenue and Howell.

Grand parade: Noon at Sixth and Main streets.

Civic Playfield entertainment: approximately 7:30 p.m. start at Sixth and Bell.

Fireworks: Dusk at Civic Playfield.

Colors of Freedom celebration, city of Everett: Free events take place July 4; 425-257-8700; www.ci.everett.wa.us. No parking at Legion Park, so take the Everett Transit bus from the Everett Community College parking lot on Broadway.

Downtown parade is at 11 a.m. on Colby and Wetmore avenues, between Wall and 26th streets; marching bands, clowns and stilt walkers, dance and drill teams.

Festival is from 1 to 11 p.m. at Legion Park, 145 Alverson Blvd.; free shuttles from Everett station, every 15 minutes from 1:30 to 10 p.m.

Thunder on the Bay Fireworks begin at 10:20 p.m. Best viewing locations are Grand Avenue Park, 1800 Grand Ave., Everett: and Legion Park, 145 Alverson Blvd.

Fun in the Sun Street Fair, Everett: 1 to 3 p.m. July 4, live music, car show and children's entertainment at First Baptist Church, 1616 Pacific Ave.; free; 425-259-9166; www.fbc-everett.org.

Everett AquaSox baseball: 7:05 p.m. July 4, Everett Memorial Stadium, 3900 Broadway; opponent is the Salem-Kaiser Volcanoes; post-game fireworks; tickets at www.aquasox.com.

Comcast Community Ice Rink Fire on Ice, Everett: 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. July 4, 2000 Hewitt Ave.; $4 admission includes skate rental; 425-322-2600; www.comcastarenaeverett.com.

Pancake breakfast, Everett: Not happening in 2011.

Yankee Doodle Dash, Everett: Races on July 4. Register for all races at Everett Family; late registration through July 3; day of registration opens at 7 a.m. July 4. Price break for early registration, YMCA members.

10K race registration at 8:30 a.m., race starts at 9 a.m.

5K race registration at 8:45 a.m., race starts at 9:10 a.m.

1-mile race registration at 8:50 a.m., race starts at 9:15 a.m.

Fourth of July music, Gold Bar: Microsoft Orchestra concert, 2 p.m. July 4 at Gold Bar Elementary School, 419 Lewis Ave.; free; school grounds open for picnics; www.monroecommunityband.org; www.cityofgoldbar.us.

Lynnwood: The city will have no Fourth of July event in 2011.

Family Fun 4th of July, Mountlake Terrace: 5 to 11 p.m. July 4 in the Red Onion parking lot, 23209 56th Ave. W. ; 425-218-5996. Free; live music; 15-foot screen displaying a fireworks show; beer garden, barbecue food court, carnival games, bounce toys, face painting, crafters.

Old-Fashioned Fourth of July, Oak Harbor: 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. July 4 at Windjammer Park, Oak Harbor; parade, carnival and fireworks; www.oakharborchamber.com.

Annual Independence Day Parade & Ice Cream Social, Stanwood: Traditional celebration with costume contest for children younger than 12 for the best costume depicting a patriotic or U.S. history theme; no prior registration necessary; monetary prizes for first, second and third place winners; all parade participants should meet between 10:30 and 11 a.m. July 4 at the Josephine Sunset Home parking lot, 9901 272nd Place, NW:

11 a.m. parade begins.

11:30 a.m. short program and presentation of awards at the Floyd Norgaard Cultural Center, 27108 102nd Ave. NW followed by noon ice cream social with fresh strawberries.

Special display of red, white and blue quilts on view from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and quilters will be there to answer questions on the first floor of the Floyd Norgaard Cultural Center.

Fireworks show and celebration: access to Heritage Park, 9800 276th St. NW, starts at 5 p.m.; fireworks 10:30 p.m. July 4; free; guests may bring lawn chairs; www.ci.stanwood.wa.us.

Seattle and King County

Kenmore fireworks display: 10 p.m. July 4, Log Boom Park, NE 175th Street and 61st Avenue NE; free; guests advised to bring blankets and chairs; 425-398-8900; www.cityofkenmore.com/events.

Family 4th at Lake Union, Seattle: Noon to 11 p.m. July 4, Gas Works Park, 2101 N. Northlake Way; children's playfield activities, live entertainment, beer garden; 10 p.m. fireworks; free admission; guests may bring their own food; www.family4th.org.

Red, White & Zoo: 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. July 1 and 2, Woodland Park Zoo, in several animal areas; enter at N. 59th and Evanston; N. 50th and Fremont Avenue N., or 55th and Phinney; watch animals receive Fourth of July treats; included with admission of $11 and $17.50; parking $5.25; 206-548-2500; www.zoo.org.

Fourth of July train rides, Snoqualmie: Departures every 90 minutes on July 2 and 3, starting 12:01 p.m. from the Snoqualmie Depot, 38625 SE King St., and starting at 12:26 p.m. from the North Bend Depot, 205 McClellan St.; round-trip fares $8 to $12, free for younger than 2; call the Northwest Railway Museum at 425-888-3030; www.trainmuseum.org.
