Free workshop offers business owners L&I basics

TUMWATER – The Department of Labor and Industries is offering a free workshop for business owners and managers to answer questions about basic L&I services.

The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, July 20, at 729 100th St. SE, Everett.

An Employer's Introduction to L&I is a free workshop providing information essential for all business owners and managers to understand including wage and hour rules, workplace safety, contractor registration rules and paying your workers' compensation bill.

“Understanding basic L&I rules can ultimately save business people not just time, but money,” said L&I's small-business liaison Celia Nightingale. “This workshop goes a long way toward answering typical questions a business owner would have.”

The workshop covers employers' rights and responsibilities and provides an overview of the services L&I provides. Employers who attend will also learn about workplace safety and health requirements, claims management strategies, risk management, quarterly reporting requirements and wage and hour laws.

To register, visit the office ahead of time, call 800-574-2829 or register online at www.Workshops.lni.wa.gov.
