Tips for going after government contracts




American Express OPEN notes that agencies with the U.S. government awarded $98 billion in contracts last year.

It also said many agencies are catching on that they can save money by going with a small business.

It offers these tips for getting started:

Get your business certified: Click here to go to the Small Business Administration's website to determine if your business qualifies for various small business certifications and set aside contracting programs, including small business, the 8(a), women-owned, service-disabled veteran-owned, and HUBZone small business.

Get your business noticed by registering in the Central Contractor Registration national database and add your business to the dynamic small business search.
