Navy plans to build new boat launch

The U.S. Navy is hiring contractors to demolish a pier adjacent to Naval Station Everett and build a new $2.2 million small craft launch.

The contractor plans to remove a derelict pier and creosote-treated wood pilings at the Everett Kimberly-Clark plant, a move that is expected to help restore aquatic habitat and improve water quality.

Then workers plan to build a concrete slab ramp and floating dock.

The launch will allow the Navy to quickly respond to events such as oil spills, security threats, or other situations in the East Waterway that require an immediate response by boat.
