Seven people injured in U.S. 2 crash are recovering

GOLD BAR -- Seven people who were in a van during a head-on wreck in Gold Bar last week are expected to recover.

The crash happened around 11:30 a.m. July 14 on U.S. 2 near First Street. A man in a Ford Focus reportedly crossed the center line and hit a van full of people. The people in the van were tourists from Texas.

The man in the Focus died at the scene. All of the people in the van received medical treatment after the crash, and at least two were hospitalized for serious injuries.

Everyone who was in the van was recuperating as of Wednesday morning, said Rebecca Hover, a spokeswoman for the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office. Some of them had already gone back to Texas.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

The man who died has not yet been identified by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office. His name is expected to be released soon.
