The 103rd Evergreen State Fair opens its doors 10 a.m. Aug. 25, with free admission for everyone until 1 p.m.

The Evergreen State Fair will play host to more than 22,000 exhibits on display during its 12-day schedule this year. This year also marks the opening of the county's new 33,600-square-foot Evergreen Events Center. There, visitors will be treated to a display building where dogs, rabbits, poultry, cavies, FFA still life and WSU Extension exhibits will be shown.

Emphasizing this year's "Hungry for Fun" theme, a new admission feature is the "Friday Food Bank Frenzy: Free Till 3 With 3'' on Aug. 26 and Sept. 2, where admission is free until 3 p.m. with three cans of food to be donated to local food banks.

In addition to the wide variety of favorite exhibits, the fair will feature five grandstand concerts that include Cheap Trick, OneRepublic, The Band Perry, Peter Yarrow and Paul Noel Stookey of Peter, Paul and Mary and Northwest Rockfest, which will feature eight bands.

The Evergreen Speedway also will feature seven attractions, including the Motorsports Sampler on opening day, Mr. Dizzy's Crash Factory Live, Hot August Nights Shootout, Evergreen Comp Drifting, NASCAR night, WWRA races, a demo derby and fireworks.

The Arena will be the site of the three-night ProWest Rodeo with its heart-pounding action as top cowboys and cowgirls from throughout the Northwest compete along with opening performances by the High Valley Riders & Vaulters, Sept. 2-4. All rodeo performances begin at 7 pm. with a special tribute to Gerry Andal prior to the Saturday show.

The Arena also features the four-day Western Regional Clydesdale Show and the three-day Washington Draft Horse Extravaganza.
