Man critically injured in one-car crash near Index

INDEX -- An Index man was flown by helicopter to a Seattle hospital Wednesday afternoon after his car crashed into a tree, officials said.

The accident was reported shortly before 4 p.m. on Reiter Road, just west of Index, Snohomish County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.

The driver, 33, was the only person in the car, Hover said. He suffered critical injuries. No other details were available.
