MONROE – Crews plan to close one direction of Highway 522 near the Snohomish River Bridge and alternate traffic one-way each night from tonight through Thursday.
The work is part of the $160 million project to widen Highway 522 from the Snohomish River to U.S. 2. Crews are expanding the highway to four lanes.
The lane will close at 9 p.m. each night and reopen at 5 a.m. the following day. During the closures crews will grind and pave the roadway as they begin shifting traffic to create a work zone.
An automated traffic signal will direct traffic through the closure, but drivers can expect delays of up to 20 minutes.
Late-night and early-morning drivers on Highway 522 should allow some extra time for their trips.
