More ramp, lane closures on I-5 in Lynnwood

More weekend closures of ramps and lanes near the interchange of I-5 and I-405 in Lynnwood were announced today by the state Department of Transportation.

The southbound I-5 off-ramp to 196th Street SW is scheduled to close Saturday and Sunday nights. The ramp will close from 10 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday and from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.

The on-ramp from Alderwood Mall Parkway to southbound Highway 525 and a single lane on southbound Highway 525 will close at 10 p.m. Sunday and reopen at 5 a.m. Monday.

Some lanes on southbound I-5 also will be closed at times. The right lane between I-405 and 196th Street SW is scheduled to be closed from 7 p.m. tonight to 9 a.m. Saturday.

On Saturday, crews will begin closing two lanes at 7 p.m. and will reopen both lanes by 9 a.m. Sunday. On Sunday, crews will begin closing lanes at 8 p.m. and will reopen both lanes by 5 a.m. Monday.

The closures are part of the state's $33 million makeover of the ramps from I-405 and Highway 525 to southbound I-5 to 196th Street SW, and from southbound I-5 to 196th.

These closures come in addition to those announced earlier, in which the on-ramps from I-405 and Highway 525 to southbound I-5 will be closed all weekend, from tonight until 5 a.m. Monday.

The Highway 525 ramp is scheduled to close at 9 p.m. tonight, the ramp from I-405 at 11 p.m.

Northbound I-405 drivers will follow a signed detour using the 164th Street SW interchange. Drivers can also use alternate routes such as Highway 522, Highway 527, Highway 524 and Highway 104 to reach southbound I-5.

Drivers on southbound Highway 525 can take southbound Highway 99 to 196th Street SW or 220th Street SW to reach southbound I-5. Drivers can also reach southbound I-5 via Alderwood Mall Parkway and westbound 196th Street SW.
