Published:
Executives from the Boeing Co. and All Nippon Airways signed contracts for the first 787 Sunday, but the real fun starts Monday.
The airline and Boeing employees will celebrate the delivery of the first Dreamliner beginning at 9 this morning at Paine Field. The event is closed to the public, but Boeing will stream it live at www.newairplane.com.
ANA launched the Dreamliner with the first order in 2004. Then, it expected to receive the first 787 in May 2008.
Early Tuesday morning, ANA pilots are set to fly the Dreamliner to Tokyo.
The airline also plans to show the arrival there of the first Dreamliner online. The landing is expected to take place around 5 p.m. Pacific time on Tuesday. Go to www.ana.co.jp/promotion/b787/en/.
ANA will fly the 787 on a special charter flight Oct. 26 from Tokyo to Hong Kong. On Nov. 1, ANA's first Dreamliner will begin regular commercial service in Japan.
The parking lot of the Future of Flight and Boeing Tour, a popular viewing spot for earlier 787 tests, will be closed to the public from 5:30 p.m. Monday until 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
