Snohomish girls soccer beats Kamiak
SNOHOMISH -- Carissa Nuttal and Lauren Johnson scored first-half goals and Melissa Drebes recorded the shutout in goal as Snohomish beat Kamiak in a showdown between Wesco 4A powers.
Panther head coach April VanAssche said defense was key. "They are an offensive powerhouse, and our defense held them to five shots," VanAssche said.
The win helps Snohomish (8-1 league, 9-1 overall) remain in first place in the Wesco North and the loss for Kamiak (6-3, 6-5) keeps the Knights tied with Cascade for second place behind Jackson in the South. Both goals were scored because their scorer followed the ball, said VanAssche.
"It was youth night, the stands were packed ... we knew it was going to be a playoff atmosphere, I'm happy they rose to the occasion," added VanAssche.
