I take my waffles black, no sugar

Coffles? Waffee?

The best part of waking up: A Marysville couple has developed a packaged waffle, currently sold at three county espresso stands, that contains the same amount of caffeine as a cup and a half of coffee.

That's only fair, since the average Starbucks coffee drink contains the same amount of sugar as a cup and a half of maple syrup.

Gone fishin': Spokane Valley Police arrested a suspect in a shooting after they pulled him from his hiding place in a backyard goldfish pond. He was booked into the Spokane County Jail on first-degree assault with a firearm.

The suspect is being watched carefully so he does not attempt to flush himself down the toilet in his cell.

Over the river and through the woods: If you're traveling by car or ferry over the Thanksgiving holiday, you can expect some delays and slow traffic on highways and long waits in ferry lines, advises Herald Streets Smarts writer Bill Sheets.

His advice: leave early and check the state Transportation Department's website. Our advice, particularly for drivers prone to drowsiness during long journeys: pack a waffle or two.
