Say it with me: We are what we eat.
Normally, as food-loving Americans, we eat EVERYTHING, everything we can get our hands on, especially at Thanksgiving!
We eat sweet potatoes AND potatoes, cranberry jelly AND whole homemade cranberry sauce, sausage stuffing AND oyster stuffing, pumpkin pie AND pecan pie.
But now — as voting in Round 5 of our Food Fight ends (The Final Four) and Round 6 begins (The Championship), we all must make a choice.
Having pushed everyone else out of the way — including gravy, crescent rolls and even mashed potatoes for God's sake — in NCAA-style single-elimination rounds, we now will be choosing between two top-seeded foods, two all-time classics.
I'm talking about, perhaps, the granddaddy of all Thanksgiving foods, Tom Turkey, roast turkey — not deep-fried or smoked turkey, those options were voted out earlier.
Pitted quite solidly against the bird is another deeply ingrained T-day classic: Pumpkin pie.
How did we get to this point?

Most recently, lower-seeded stuffing from the starches region lost by a wide margin to roast turkey of the main dishes region. Fresh cranberry sauce from the fruits and veggies region was completely (and rightly) crushed by pumpkin pie from the desserts region.
And now we — you — have to decide: Who are you really if you are what you eat in our virtual Thanksgiving battle?
Are we a nation that loves our sweets more than our meats?
Will you grab a leg or nibble on a crust?
Is ice cream included? Whipped cream?
Is turkey worth eating without gravy?
It's a tough call.
