Yakima County prosecutor charged with DUI

YAKIMA -- Kittitas County prosecutors charged Yakima County Prosecutor Jim Hagarty with drunken driving on Thursday in Yakima County District Court.
Yakima Herald-Republic reports he is scheduled to appear in court on the gross misdemeanor charge Dec. 12 before a judge visiting from Kittitas County, which agreed to handle the case.
Hagarty was arrested by a Washington State trooper Nov. 15 after a minor rear-end collision at Selah. He provided breath-test samples of 0.106 and 0.109, slightly over the legal limit of 0.08 percent.
Hagarty, 61, has been the Yakima prosecutor for three years. He issued an apology the day after his arrest but has since refused comment.
