AquaSox get a new manager
EVERETT -- Rob Mummau will manage the Everett AquaSox in 2012, the Seattle Mariners announced Friday.
It is Mummau's first stint with the AquaSox, the Mariners' affiliate in the short-season Class A Northwest League.
Mummau is entering his 11th season as a manager and scout in the Mariners organization. He spent last season managing the Pulaski Mariners, Seattle's affiliate in the rookie Appalachian League. He guided Pulaski to a 32-36 record and a third-place finish in the five-team East Division.
Mummau replaces Scott Steinmann, who led the AquaSox to a 37-39 record in 2011.
Rich Dorman returns to Everett in 2012 as pitching coach. Dorman, who spent last season as the pitching coach for the Clinton LumberKings of the Class A Midwest League, spent the 2009 and 2010 seasons as Everett's pitching coach. Andy Bottin, who is entering his 18th season as a coach in the Mariners organization, will serve as the hitting coach after spending the previous 10 seasons with Peoria of the rookie Arizona League.
Spyder Webb returns for his 34th season as trainer for the AquaSox.
