Arlington woman accused of stealing from cheerleading group
ARLINGTON -- An Arlington woman, 44, is under investigation for reportedly stealing $7,000 from a cheerleading organization while she was the group's treasurer.
Arlington Youth Cheer board members went to Arlington police in October after they noticed money missing and unauthorized transactions involving their bank account, police officials said.
Police contacted the woman, and she allegedly confessed. On Wednesday, police forwarded the case to prosecutors, with recommended charges of second-degree theft, a felony.
Cheer officials told police they are working with the woman on a plan to pay them back. She has since paid back at least $2,000.
