Mukilteo incumbent keeping council job

EVERETT -- Emily Vanderwielen is keeping her job as Mukilteo city councilwoman.

Even though Vanderwielen lost a vote during a machine recount Thursday, she still held on to a lead in the race. She got 3,026 votes, while challenger Terry Preshaw received 3,008 votes.

Results are scheduled to be certified at 1 p.m. Friday.

This was the last race to be decided. Hand recounts for the Lynnwood and Monroe city council races were finished Wednesday.

A recount in the Mukilteo race was triggered because the difference between candidates was less than one-half of 1 percent.
