EvCC gets two planes for aviation students

Aviation maintenance students at Everett Community College will get two planes to work on next year thanks to donations.
An anonymous local business owner donated a twin engine Beechcraft Duke BE60 valued at $300,000, college officials said.
The plane is a 1974 model outfitted with modern instruments and other upgrades.
A variety of other donors contributed $48,000 to help the college buy a Cessna 421.
"While demand for skilled aviation workers is growing, these donations will provide the capacity for more students to do hands-on training using modern avionics and instruments," said Alex Porter, an instructor.
The college's technician school is located at Paine Field Airport and has more than 80 students. Students can earn an associates degree in aviation maintenance or an airframe and powerplant license.
