PICK OF THE WEEK: Lake Goodwin Trout Fishing

A brisk morning wrestling with a limit of feisty rainbow is a great way to clear the head and throw off the post-Christmas blahs, and Lake Goodwin is offering the cure this weekend. Mike Chamberlain at Ted's Sport Center in Lynnwood said winter trout fishing on the lake has been very productive recently for prime trout going 13 to 17 inches.

Chamberlain said trollers are scoring with Needlefish spoons in several color patterns, but particularly the black and white "cop car." Another popular method is to slow-troll a dark fly, such as the woolly bugger, on monofilament and a little weight, varying speed and adding a little jigging motion off and on. Good fly colors include black, olive and maroon, Chamberlain said.
