OK, OK, so finishing the season with a .500 road record hardly counts as dominance, but if the Seahawks can win at Arizona, they’d finish the year with a 4-4 mark away from CenturyLink Field, something they haven’t done since 2006. Since that year, Seattle has gone 3-5, 2-6, 1-7 and 2-6 on the road.
Even more impressive is that two of the three road wins have been in the dreaded 10 a.m. PT time slot and come against teams with winning records—Chicago and the New York Giants.
So what’s been the key to Seattle’s road improvement, besides the fact that the Seahawks appear to simply be a better team?
“I think our guys have bought in that it’s the same game and you have to prepare for it in the same fashion and you can’t count on the crowd and you can’t give the other crowd too much credit,” Pete Carroll said. “You get ready to play the football game the way we’ve practiced every week. We’ve done a good job of understanding that. The fact that we’ve been there and played well the last time we were there helps a little bit too because you know your way around and all that. But it’s more about the consistency of how you prepare. Prepare the same and the game should come out relatively the same as well. That’s what we’re hoping for again in this last one.”
