Boeing to meet with Wichita workers tomorrow

The Boeing Co. will hold a meeting tomorrow with employees at its Wichita, Kan., site, reports the Wichita Eagle.
The company is expected to unveil its plans for the Kansas location at the meeting, which employees are required to attend.
Boeing said in November it was evaluating the Wichita location in light of impending cuts to the U.S. defense budget.
In December, Kansas politician Mike Pompeo announced that Boeing plans to transfer finishing work on the Air Force tanker from Wichita to the Puget Sound region. Pompeo cited a conversation with Boeing officials. Boeing said it hadn't finished its evaluation of the Wichita site.
In an agreement made with it Machinists union in December, Boeing agreed to move tanker work to the Puget Sound region should it shutter its Wichita facility.
Boeing won a $35 billion contract with the U.S. Air Force last February. The company plans to build the 767-based tankers in Everett, with workers in Wichita installing military applications there.
