Snohomish County sheriff's deputies on Tuesday morning were patrolling the 5100 block of 180th Street SE near Bothell. That's when they came across a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer with license plates belonging to a different vehicle, sheriff's bureau chief Kevin Prentiss said.
While a deputy was waiting for backup, a man got into the vehicle and began driving east on 180th Street SE.
The deputy attempted to make a traffic stop but the driver wouldn't pull over, Prentiss said. During the pursuit, speeds were estimated to reach 80 mph.
Deputies placed a spike strip across the roadway near the intersection of 168th Street SE and Sunset Road, causing a flat tire to the stolen vehicle. The man, 30, continued to the 11700 block of 35th Avenue SE before driving off the roadway where he was arrested.
