2012 Apple Cup to be played on Friday after Thanksgiving

SEATTLE -- Washington State will play host to Washington in the 2012 Apple Cup on Friday, Nov. 23, in Pullman, the day after Thanksgiving.
The Pac-12 announced its 2012 football schedules on Wednesday. The schools have typically tried to avoid playing around the Thanksgiving holiday in Pullman in the past because most students are not on campus during the Thanksgiving break.
Washington State's first season under new coach Mike Leach begins Sept. 1 at BYU. That same day Washington plays host to San Diego State at Seattle's CenturyLink Field. The Huskies will play the entire 2012 season at the home of the Seattle Seahawks because of renovations at Husky Stadium.
The Cougars open Pac-12 play on Sept. 22 vs. Colorado. The Huskies open conference play Sept. 27 vs. Stanford.
