Mariner RB to play in U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Saturday

    Mariner running back KeiVarae Russell will play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.




On Saturday Mariner running back KeiVarae Russell will be closing out his high school football career by playing in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, one of the premier events in the nation for high school players.

The game, which takes place in the Alamodome in San Antonio, will be televised nationally on NBC at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The Notre Dame-bound back will be on the West squad. Two other players from Washington State will join Russell: offensive lineman Zach Banner and defensive back Cedric Dozier, both of Lakes High School in Lakewood.

Previous participants in the Army All-American Bowl include DeSean Jackson (2005), Mark Sanchez (2005), Adrian Peterson (2004), Ted Ginn, Jr. (2004), Vince Young (2002) and current University of Washington players Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Kasen Williams, Sione Potoae and Sean Parker.
