New ferry Kennewick joining state's fleet
It's the third 64-car ferry built for the state under a $213 million contract with Vigor Shiyards, formerly Todd Pacific. The Kennewick follows the Salish that went into service in July and the Chetzemoka that began ferrying in November 2010.
The Peninsula Daily News reported that the Kennewick will begin service later this month on the Port Townsend-Coupeville route.
The dockside celebration will include state legislators, transportation officials and representatives from Port Townsend, Whidbey Island and Kennewick.
