So long ...
And thanks for all the fish: Renowned physicist Stephen Hawking was too ill to attend a conference in honor of his 70th birthday, but he recorded a message for attendees that repeated his call for travel to other planets, arguing that humans face eventual extinction unless they colonize other worlds.
A beam of light then lifted Hawking into a hovering Metrovian spacecraft and he announced telepathically that he would write if he found a planet with basic cable and a functioning Congress.
One pill makes you larger: Pharmaceutical company Novartis announced it was recalling some bottles of Excedrin, NoDoz, Bufferin and Gas-X because of concerns that the bottles could contain broken tablets or stray pills from other medications.
If after having taken what you thought was Gas-X, call your physician if your flatulence lasts more than four hours.
Don't know much about history: On this day in 1793, Frenchman Jean Pierre Blanchard flew between Philadelphia and Woodbury, N.J., in a hot-air balloon.
It was the first time in history that a Frenchman had looked down his nose at Americans from a height greater than 5 feet, 4 inches.
