Air France confirms Dreamliner order

Air France-KLM confirmed an order for 25 Boeing Co. 787-9s, the airline said Tuesday.

The carrier had said last summer that it planned to upgrade its fleet. Air France had announced plans to order A350s from Airbus at that time.

Boeing's 2011 orders tally released last week attributed Air France's order for 25 Dreamliners to an undisclosed customer, the jet maker said Tuesday.

"Reaction to the Dreamliner's entry into service has been phenomenal and we look forward to seeing passengers of Air France-KLM fly on this revolutionary airplane," Jim Albaugh, president of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said in a press statement.

The order increases the number of 787-9s on order to 305 airplanes. The 787 Dreamliner family, including the 787-8 and 787-9, has accumulated a total of 860 orders from 59 customers around the world.
