The latest Tacoma News Tribune basketball polls were released on Monday and there is still a strong Wesco presence as we pass the midway point of the season.
On the girls side, Lake Stevens (12-0) still holds down a top-3 spot in 4A, with Wesco foe Stanwood (11-1) not far behind at No. 5. Jackson (10-2), the only Wesco South team in the 4A rankings, is No. 6.
The 3A rankings feature Shorecrest (9-2) at No. 10, and Everett (8-4), Glacier Peak (10-2) and Lynnwood (8-3) right on the cusp of breaking into the top 10.
Herald Writer Aaron Lommers will be happy to see that his alma mater, Wapato High School, ranks eighth amongst the 2A girls teams. Archbishop Murphy (7-3) is on the bubble. King's (9-2) is the only local team ranked in 1A at No. 5.
The 4A boys ranking only has Snohomish (9-2, No. 9) in the top 10, but a trio of 8-4 teams, Edmonds-Woodway, Jackson and Lake Stevens, are waiting should a top 10 team fall out of the rankings.
Undefeated Mountlake Terrace (12-0) remains a force in the 3A standings at No. 4, with the two Shoreline schools – Shorecrest (7-4) and Shorewood (9-2) – finishing just outside the top 10.
Once again, the King's boys are the only 1A team, ranked sixth in the state.
