Boeing's 787 continues 'Dream Tour' with visit to Wichita

The Boeing Co. announced on Thursday the second stretch of its 787's "Dream Tour" with stops in Kansas and Illinois.

In November, Boeing said it was taking the 787 on a six-month tour around the world to visit Dreamliner customers and suppliers. Last month, the Dreamliner made stops in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

"The all-new 787 Dreamliner continues to generate tremendous enthusiasm everywhere it flies," Scott Fancher, general manager of the 787 program, said in a statement Thursday. "We look forward to sharing the Dreamliner's significant innovations with additional airlines, partners and financiers."

The first stop of the Dreamliner's next trip: Wichita, Kan., where the 787 will visit Dreamliner supplier, Spirit AeroSystems, as well as Boeing's employees in Wichita. Boeing announced last week that it plans to close its Wichita location next year.

The 787 also will visit Dreamliner supplier Hamilton Sunstrand in Illinois, customers in Dublin, Ireland and Boeing workers in Huntsville, Ala.

Boeing plans to continue the tour through April, announcing tour stops about a month in advance.
