LONGVIEW — The Postal Service is resuming deliveries Thursday to about two dozen residents on a Longview street where service was suspended last week after a vicious dog chased a carrier to his truck.
Spokesman Kerry Jeffrey says a supervisor will walk the route with the carrier to make sure it’s safe.
The Daily News reports residents in the 300 block of 18th Avenue had been notified last weekend they would have to install a mailbox on the curb or rent a post office box. Residents told the paper they were furious they were being penalized for a neighbor’s bad dog.
Jeffrey says the vicious dog owner was cited and another dog removed.
Jeffrey says carriers were bitten by dogs four times last year in Longview and about 7,000 times nationwide.
