A gazebo at Clark Park nobody can use

The historic gazebo at Clark Park is surrounded by a fence and has been off and on for many years because of problems with vandalism. However, there's hope that might change.
The city has been working with neighbors, churches and businesses around the park to come up with low-cost ways to improve it.
At a parks meeting Tuesday, parks and recreation director Paul Kaftanski said the city hopes to "free the gazebo." As part of that effort I just mentioned above, the city -- along with the help of the community -- plans to try some extra measures such as lighting and holding more public events there. The city also is encouraging neighbors to set up a "friends of the park" group that would take more ownership of the park. A meeting about that is set for 6:30 p.m. Jan. 24 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2324 Lombard Ave.
If those measures are successful, the city might be able to get that fence from around the gazebo removed.
