Teen injured in 1-car crash near Stanwood

STANWOOD -- A teenage driver suffered serious injuries Friday when the car he was driving car went down an embankment along Marine Drive and hit a tree, Snohomish County sheriff's deputies said.

The crash occurred north of the Florence area around 5:35 p.m.

The 18-year-old driver was wearing a seat belt, sheriff's bureau chief Kevin Prentiss said. He was taken to an Everett hospital for treatment. No other vehicles were involved.

Sheriff's traffic detectives were investigating.
